How we counted

  • Source: public Reddit search results, read without logging in, from r/iphone, r/iphonehelp, r/applehelp, r/ios, r/iCloud, r/ApplePhotos, r/iPhone16Pro, r/iPhone15Pro, r/iphone16 and r/ipad.
  • Search terms: “photos”, “photo”, “pictures”, “camera roll”. Up to 100 newest posts per subreddit and term.
  • Time window: posts published October 3 – November 3, 2026 (UTC).
  • Sample: 803 posts were collected. We removed 35 cross-posted duplicates (same title and opening text), leaving 768. We kept only posts asking for help with photos on an iPhone or iPad, which left 471.
  • Classification: each post got exactly one type: the main problem the poster wanted solved. The list of types was fixed before we looked at the data. An AI classifier sorted all posts. We also labeled a random sample of 100 independently, and the two agreed on the type for 76% of the posts both counted.
  • Data: the count for every type is in counts.csv: type, number of posts and share only.
  • Privacy: we stored no usernames and no post text. The CSV has only types and counts, no post IDs. This page does not quote any poster.

Limits

  • These numbers describe help requests in these 10 subreddits that use the search terms above, during this one month. They are not a measure of how often all iPhone users have each problem.
  • Posts that never use the words “photo”, “pictures” or “camera roll” were not collected, so camera problems are probably undercounted.
  • In the largest subreddits, the 100-post limit meant the window was shorter than a month.
  • Items 2 and 3 are nearly tied (60 vs 59 posts). Treat them as tied.
