Slidebox Alternative for iPhone: PicWay (November 2026)

The short answer

PicWay is a swipe photo organizer for iPhone and iPad. Like Slidebox, you go through photos one at a time. By default, swipe right to keep, left to set aside, and up to favorite. Set-aside photos stay in your library until you review them and confirm the delete with iOS.

Setting photos aside By default, a left swipe sets the photo aside. It stays in your library, and you can tap Put back anytime. Trashing a photo marks it as trashed inside Slidebox. Nothing happens to the photo outside Slidebox. Source
Deleting and recovering To really delete, you review the set-aside photos, then iOS asks you to confirm. Deleted photos go to Recently Deleted for 30 days. Deleting trashed photos removes them from your iOS photo library on all your devices. They stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days. Source

Which to use

If you want to file photos into albums as you swipe, Slidebox is built around that: tap an album to sort the photo. If you’d rather go through memories like On This Day or a trip, keep screenshots and documents out of view, and compress videos or lock private photos in the same app, try PicWay.

When Slidebox fits

Slidebox is built around sorting as you swipe: swipe up to trash, down to favorite, and tap an album to file the photo. Its App Store page also lists comparing similar photos and undoing actions.

When PicWay fits

  • You want to go through photos by memory, like On This Day, a month, a place, or a Journey.

  • You want screenshots, screen recordings, and document-like images out of view. The Life view hides them without deleting them.
  • You want to compress videos at Standard or Strong, or keep private photos in a vault that won’t open while your screen is being recorded.
  • You want reviewing and organizing done on your device, with no account to sign up for.
