How to clean up screenshots on iPhone

The short answer

The easiest way to clean up screenshots on iPhone is Screen captures in PicWay. Swipe left or right to move between them, swipe up to set one aside, and double-tap any you want to keep to favorite it. Set-aside screenshots stay in your library until you confirm deleting them.

How to do it

  1. Open Screen captures

Scroll down the Memories tab to More ways to tidy, tap View all, then tap Screen captures under Quick tidy.

  2. Swipe through them

Swipe left or right to move to the next one, swipe up to set one aside, and double-tap any you want to keep to favorite it.

  3. Confirm before you leave

When you’re done, tap the button at the top right to leave. PicWay asks whether to delete what you set aside, and nothing is deleted until you confirm with iOS.

After you clean up screenshots on iPhone, will they show up in memories?

Not by default. No screenshots or documents in memories is on by default, so reviews, On This Day, memories, and widgets leave out screenshots, screen recordings, and animated images. They’re all still in your library.

This setting doesn’t affect the cleanup tools. Screen captures, Similar photos, Duplicate items, and Bursts can still find them.

How to get one back

Tap Set aside at the top right of the Memories tab, then tap Put back at the top right of the photo. If it’s already deleted, you can recover it from Recently Deleted for 30 days.
