## What can I search for in PicWay? {#what}

Type it the way you’d say it.

- **An exact day**: Type May 1, 2025 or 1 May 2025. You get the photos from that day.
- **A range of dates**: Join two dates with a hyphen, like 20240801-20240921. Two years work too, like 2019-2021.
- **The same day, every year**: Leave out the year. May 1 finds May 1 in every year of your library.
- **Places and journeys**: Search a place, and the journeys you took there show up first.
- **Albums and tags**: Search an album name, or a tag you added to a photo yourself.
- **Words and everyday things**: Words in a photo, and things like a dog, a cat, or flowers. PicWay looks for these in the background, only while your iPhone is charging.

## Mix a date, a place, and a type. {#combine}

Add a word like video, Live, screenshot, or favorite to the date or place you typed. Nothing found? PicWay doesn’t quietly widen the search. It suggests you try fewer conditions.

## Your searches stay on your iPhone. {#private}

- **Search runs on your iPhone**: PicWay doesn’t upload your photos or videos to search them, and there’s no account.
- **Place names stay here**: With Precise Places on, PicWay sends only a photo’s coordinates to Apple’s location service to get the place name. Place names stay on this iPhone, and turning off Precise Places clears them.
- **Recent searches**: Your recent searches wait at the top of Search. Remove one, or clear them all.
