In PicWay, touch and hold a photo in your library and tap Add tags. Type a tag, such as family, travel, or ideas, and tap Add. Then search that tag in your library to find the photo. Each tag can be up to 32 characters, and each photo can have up to 24 tags.

## How to do it {#steps}

1. **Open Add tags**: In your PicWay library, touch and hold a photo and tap Add tags.
2. **Type a tag**: Type a tag in Enter a tag, like family, travel, or ideas, then tap Add. Tags you’ve used on other photos show up under Existing tags, so you can tap one instead of typing it again.
3. **Search for it later**: Search the tag in your library to find the photo again. To remove a tag, open Add tags on that photo and tap the x next to it.

Apple’s Photos has keywords too: see [Add keywords to photos and videos on iPhone](https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/hq2498vl3iq1/ios) (Apple Support, checked 2026-11-01). PicWay’s tags are a separate list that lives in PicWay.

## Where are my tags kept? {#where-tags-live}

In PicWay’s own list on your iPhone.

## What can a tag look like? {#tag-rules}

One to 32 characters, with no line breaks, and up to 24 tags per photo. Adding a tag a photo already has doesn’t add it again.
