A USB connection to a PC mostly shows photos and videos from your camera roll. Pictures you download from the web often land in the Files app instead, in a Downloads folder. Open Files, check Downloads in iCloud Drive or On My iPhone, then move them to Photos or share them to your PC.

## How to do it {#steps}

1. **Open the Downloads folder in Files**: Open the Files app, tap Browse at the bottom, then tap Downloads. If you use iCloud Drive, look in the Downloads folder under iCloud Drive as well.
2. **Save pictures to Photos if you want them in the camera roll**: Touch and hold a picture, or tap Select and choose several, then tap the Share button and tap Save Image. Photos then holds a copy.
3. **Get the files to your PC**: Leave files in iCloud Drive and open them from iCloud on your PC, or tap Share and send them to yourself by email or a cloud folder you use on both devices.

## Where do downloaded pictures go on iPhone? {#where-downloads-go}

It depends on how you got them. Files you download in Safari or another app usually go to the Files app. If you can’t find a downloaded file, Apple says to check the Downloads folder in iCloud Drive ([Find files on your iPhone or iPad](https://support.apple.com/en-us/102570)). Pictures you chose to save with **Save Image** go to Photos.

| How you got the picture | Where to look on iPhone |
| --- | --- |
| Downloaded a file in Safari | Files, then Downloads |
| Saved an image from a web page or an app | Photos |
| Took it with the camera | Photos |

## Why does my PC only show camera photos? {#why-only-camera}

When you plug an iPhone into a PC, the PC mostly lists the photos and videos in the camera roll. It doesn’t browse the Files app. So a download sitting in Files won’t show up there, however many times you reconnect the cable.

## Why does iCloud show only my gallery? {#icloud-gallery}

iCloud Photos syncs what’s in the Photos app. A file that is only in Files isn’t part of it. Files in iCloud Drive are a separate place. Check iCloud Drive on your PC for those, or save the pictures to Photos first.

## What if the picture is in Photos but still missing on my PC? {#in-photos-missing}

Check that it really is in Photos by opening the Recents album. If it is, try unplugging the iPhone, unlocking it, and reconnecting. Tap Allow or Trust This Computer if asked. Then look again.

## Can I find downloads by name? {#find-by-name}

Yes. In the Files app, tap Browse, then use the search field at the top and type part of the file name.
