Open the photo in Photos, tap the info button, tap Adjust Info, then tap Adjust Location and choose No Location. Or select the photos, tap share, tap Options, and turn off Location. Apple says sharing a photo includes its metadata, such as date, time, location, and device. To stop new photos saving a place, set Camera to Never in Location Services.

## How to do it {#steps}

1. **Open the photo and its info**: In the Photos app, open the photo, then swipe up or tap the info button. The details Photos has for it appear there.
2. **Choose Adjust Location**: Tap Adjust Info, then tap Adjust Location. The exact labels can vary with your iOS version.
3. **Tap No Location**: Choose No Location. The photo no longer carries the place it was taken, so what you send next doesn’t include it.
4. **Or leave it out only when you share**: Select one or more photos, tap the share button, tap Options, and turn off Location. “Location Not Included” shows above the Options button. Leave All Photos Data off, since it sends the original file with its metadata.
5. **Stop new photos saving a place**: Open Settings, tap Privacy & Security, tap Location Services, tap Camera, then tap Never. Photos you take after that don’t get a location.

## Do photos I share include my location? {#shared-photos-location}

Yes, they can. Apple’s guide to sharing says that sharing a photo or video includes its associated metadata, such as date and time, location, device, and captions ([Apple: Share photos and videos on iPhone](https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/iphf28f17237/ios), iOS 27 edition). A photo only has a location if one was saved when you took it.

## How do I remove the location from one photo? {#remove-one-photo}

Apple’s Personal Safety guide gives these steps: open the photo, tap the info button, tap Adjust Info, tap Adjust Location, then tap **No Location** ([Apple: Manage location metadata in Photos](https://support.apple.com/guide/personal-safety/ips0d7a5df82)). Apple describes this one photo at a time on iPhone, and the Mac steps cover several photos at once (Image, then Location, then Hide Location).

## Can I leave the location out only when I share? {#share-options}

Yes, for one photo or several. Apple’s Personal Safety guide says to select the photos in Photos, tap the share button, tap **Options**, and turn off **Location**. “Location Not Included” then shows above the Options button, and you share as usual ([Apple: Manage location metadata in Photos](https://support.apple.com/guide/personal-safety/ips0d7a5df82)). This changes what you send and leaves the photo in your library as it was. Apple’s sharing guide (iOS 27 edition) also lists Keywords, the file format, and **All Photos Data** in Options. Leave All Photos Data off, since it shares the original file with its metadata over AirDrop.

## What about sharing from PicWay’s Private Vault? {#picway-vault-share}

When you share photos from the Private Vault, PicWay hands the share sheet a copy with the location, shot time, and camera and lens details removed, and the sheet says **“Specified metadata removed”** at the top. If you want the original details, choose **Keep original details** instead. For photos in your normal library, use the steps above.
